A new cruise will allow nature lovers to come face to face with some of the planet’s rarest animals, while supporting the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust – a charity fighting to protect them.
The cruise, which is offered by wildlife specialist The Ultimate Travel Company, will visit a number of Durrell’s conservation projects including tortoises, freshwater turtles and lemurs in Madagascar; an island restoration project in Mauritius with an optional excursion to endemic bird recovery projects; and a programme dedicated to protecting the Livingstone fruit bat in The Comores.

In addition, guests can benefit from the expertise of Durrell scientists Mark Stanley Price and Quentin Bloxam, both of whom have extensive experience working with critically endangered species in the regions visited. Both will be on board to give talks about the wildlife at each of the destinations and to help guests make the most of their shore visits. While passengers are at sea there will be a range of lectures given on topics such as marine conservation in the Indian Ocean and Madagascar’s natural history.
The 14-night cruise will operate for the very first time from 25 February to 10 March 2008, and prices starting at £4,995 per person, based on two sharing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], include a donation to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. For more information visit
