An story along Francis Frangipane has recently gone into circulation. It is a very poised and well constructed treatise. The cardinal purpose was to quarrel the need to put the word of the Bible before signs and surprises and to look the latter in the context of the sometime. He made a digit of profitable points and accustom some interesting notions. It was of a quality one would expect from him no more than one would expect from him and it is not my purpose here to criticise this go.
However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there are some points which appear from what he said which do need care. In pursuing his objective he, inevitably, made comments which were subservient to it and, not being of main concern, were not developed. But some of these do necessitate further consideration.
Extra-biblical Phenomona
FP defines manifestations 'which have no pattern in the Bible' as extra-biblical. In these he includes the quaking of Quakers and the rolling of Holy Rollers. He then includes the alleged visitations of the mama of Jesus at Medjugore (in the former Yugoslavia) as belonging to the same category. This is surely a slip of thought.
Medjugore Patterns in the Bible?
A pattern consists of elements which can be regarded as representative of something and which are continual in recognisable ways.
In truth, there are several well known examples in the Bible which constitute a pattern into which Medjugore fits very well. Visitations of seraphim teem, but there are other instances: Samuel arose to Saul,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], albeit illegally (1 Samuel 28:8 - 20); Jacob had an encounter with a heavenly being (some would say divine) (Genesis 32. 23 - 33); there was a (probably divine) appearance to Joshua (Joshua 5. 13 - 15). Of course, we know of the appearance to Jesus himself of Moses and Elijah (Matthew 17. 1 - 8f) and there are many other examples one could quote.
Do these constitute a pattern into which the (demanded) outwards at Medjugore fit? Surely they do. The visions by Medjugore are assorted in merely 2 respects: they concern a female rather than a male diagram; and they have been reiterated every night without fail over twenty-two years. Otherwise, and these are naturally no grounds as exclusion, the Medjugore events fit into the biblical pattern exceedingly well.
True, as patterns go,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], are alike, but many have recurrences which embody nonidentical ingredients. This is manifest when we compare such biblical events as said upon. All have similarities of one variety or another but nobody can be said to be identical.
Medjugore, Quakers and Rollers.
The events at Medjugore cannot, accordingly, properly be compared with extra-biblical charismatic-type events relative to such as Quakers and Rollers. Of course, Francis Frangipane was simply looking fall butme examples, and unfortunately elected on Medjugore. But, since the latter can be seen quite apparently to fit among the biblical category,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it does claim further attention. Clearly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this kind of categorisation is permissive rather than conclusive of its genuineness: anything that looks like something biblical is not necessarily sincere.
At fewest because of its influence on very great numbers of human, not to say that God may be 'reaching to these people via this exposition,' the Medjugore phenomenon warrants some beyond consideration.
Divine Or Demonic Origin?
FP says 'I individually do not believe that this was (is?) Mary'. He does not say why merely, for we have noted, thinks that God may be using it. But that is not really ample. It is both of satanic or of sacred origin. One or the other. Ought we not to make one appraisal of which?
Is there a potentiality of satanic origin? That namely incredulous while 1 considers the messages, and I have peruse many of them, which have been coming out of Medjugore since 1981. Jesus once asked “How can Satan steer out Satan?” for a realm or house cannot stand whether divided opposition itself. Moreover, he added, quite significantly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that, if Satan were to disapprove himself, his end would have come (Mark 3. 23 - 26f).
Now, it may well be namely Sat
