Retro Smash Hit Dragon’s Lair Now Available on iPad

Even though the game is 27 years old (yes, 27!), it still looks great, as the game was originally built using the now infamous LaserDisc, and featured full motion video from beginning to end,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], instead of traditional sprites and bitmaps. As a result, Dragon’s Lair looks a lot more like an interactive cartoon than a video game.
Back in 1983, the game contrast with other arcade games created a sensation when it appeared, and was played so heavily that LaserDiscs in the machines running the game usually broke due to the strain of overuse. With the iPad version, no need to worry about this, as the game is now completely digitized,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and looks great. The iPad version also retains the comedy of the game, as just like most cartoons, most creatures are bizarre looking, deaths scenes are funny, and the game’s hero is still extremely clumsy yet hilarious in his efforts.
The game is identical to the original version, and features Dirk the Daring, on a quest to rescue Princess Daphne from Singe, an evil dragon who has locked Daphne in a wizard’s castle. The iPad shows animated scenes, and the goal is to perform specific actions such as jumping or pressing the sword button with correct timing in order to move forward in the game. In other words, instead of directly controlling the character’s actions, your job is to control his reflexes, with various full motion video segments playing for correct or incorrect choices.
