; before I get into what is going on here in auto service land, let me first apologize for not sending you a monthly newsletter last month and also almost missing this month! I am afraid I have been quite distracted since my return from our vacation the first week of June. A plugged ear due to altitude changes gave my wife Denise a severe case of vertigo and an eventual trip to day surgery to correct an inner ear "fistula." She is now getting better, but I just could not seem to focus on getting anything written down for all of you. Well that time has come.
First let me put the final nail in the coffin of the Pulse Plug story. As you may recall my MPG on the trip to Minnesota in May was 29.106 (2217 miles). I removed the plugs before our trip to the Durango area and put the old, original plugs back in. These plugs had almost 39 [link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 miles on them already. We put 1230 miles on the car during the trip, including Wolf Creek, Red Mountain, Molas and Coal Bank passes and a trip up the hill to Mesa Verde. Fully loaded this time with luggage and 4 passengers the MPG landed at 29.36. And the shudder I mentioned in the last newsletter is gone. Verdict: Save your money and don't buy these..
Our next test subject in the realm of fuel or money saving ideas for your car is going to be synthetic motor oils and their value as a cost saving tool in your long term maintenance program. Unfortunately this testing is going to take several months to complete so I am still looking for other product suggestions to investigate. Please feel free to send me any ideas by email.

Perhaps your vehicle is one of the thousands on the road which suffers from yellowed headlamp lenses, but if not I am sure you know what I am talking about. The discoloration is caused by the effects of UV light on the polycarbonate plastic lens and until recently there was no long term fix for this because there was no easy way to replace the UV hard coat on the lens. Well, that issue is now gone. We can now resurface the headlamp lens and recoat it so the UV damage is stopped, and the lens will look like it is brand new!
Since the yellowed lens can trap up to 80 percent of the light from the bulb and since new headlamp assemblies easily run well over $200 per light to replace this is a very beneficial and cost effective service.
